UPDATE: Misaki and Emiko need a guardian that will be home on a daily basis and willing to engage them in learning that the world is a safe place to explore, play and interact. They are making good progress at the foster home and we do not want to lose ground. They are very cautious in new situations. A confidant companion animal in the home (like in the foster) would be a great plus. Misaki and Emiko need gentle patient guidance. The rewards for this effort are priceless. They are loving, playful and affectionate when the feel safe.

Emiko and Misaki are very small for Papillons, under 6 pounds. It’s unbelievable to us that they were picked up as strays and slated to be euthanized because they were too shy. At our sanctuary, they began to blossom and were comfortable mixing with other dogs. They are in foster now with another small dog and are very lively, attentive, and eager to play or snuggle. They traveled well to their foster home and did not bark or whine at all. These dogs are young, under 3 years old, yet in their short lifetime each has had multiple litters. So sad that these poor dogs have not known what it is to be a beloved family pet. They only knew what it was to be a cash-making machine. Thankfully that life has been left behind and they have been spayed, vaccinated and are heartworm negative.  Their Ideal home would be with a committed couple that will help them to learn what it is to be a dog, walking on leash playing and going for car rides, possibly sitting on laps. What we at the rescue want for them is an adult loving family without young children, including grandchildren, These dogs are smaller than your favorite bag of coffee and way more precious. We want them to have the life they were always meant to have.
