Australian Shepherd / Mixed : : Male (neutered) : : Young : : Medium
Banjo is a 2 year-old neutered Australian mix. He has an amazing story. At first glance he might lead you to believe that he is shy or distracted. We feel the reason for the far off look his in his eye is his confusion at being abandoned and surrendered to a kill shelter by his prior owner. Banjo escaped the shelter and traversed the highways for 3 weeks, day and night, determined to find his family. Finally he succumbed to hunger and exhaustion and was reported as a dead dog on the side of the road. When the officers went to collect the dead body they realized he was still very much alive. We thought about calling him Argus in honor of the faithful dog in "The Odyssey" waiting for his master to come home, but we want Banjo to LIVE a long healthy life with a family that will treasure his loyalty and love. He is very alert, bright, and is conscious of all that is around him. He is very congenial with other dogs and loves to herd them together for play. He requires a great deal of exercise so he would benefit from an active lifestyle with a person who values a running companion or agility partner. We have not yet tested him with felines.
UPDATE: Banjo knows several commands in Spanish. More about BanjoNot Good with Cats |
