Trixie's rescuers are looking for either a "forever home" or a foster home possibly leading to adoption. Trixie is a spayed Walker Hound, about 2 years old, with the sweetest disposition you could ever hope to find. She was found, ragged and emaciated, wandering the streets south of New Orleans after Hurricane Gustav last fall and brought to safety in the bay area where she now has a second chance for a happy life. Her joyful nature and irresistible personality belie her dreadful ordeal. She is a very loving, playful, and submissive girl who gets along great with other dogs and absolutely adores children. She may be OK with cats. Trixie was successfully treated for a bacterial kidney infection but she drinks a lot of water and pees frequently. Therefore, a doggie door and yard are a must for this sweet girl. Because she has the natural hunting instincts typical of her breed, that yard must be securely fenced!, Trixie deserves a special someone with patience and plenty of love. She has a lot of energy and loves to go on long walks. As with many hound dogs, she must be monitored while off-leash as she has a tendency to pick up a scent and follow it. She loves to play with other dogs and is just as happy snuggling in bed. A $200 adoption fee will be charged to help cover Trixie's medical expenses.
