Teddy is a 3yo miniature poodle. It appears the poor boy had never been groomed, his fur was so matted it was in cords like a Puli. We had to shave him down. It was a long process, first with shears, then the shaver and he was very patient and just gave us kisses. Valentino holds no grudges even though he was neglected. He is loving, gentle, and very appreciative of every kindness.
UPDATE: Here is what his foster mom had to say:
My experience of fostering him at home allowed me to see some of his special traits very close-up. First of all, he is a very good car traveler. At home he was happy to adapt to whatever was going on-he liked to hang out on the softest pillows on the couch or sit on my lap with his head on my chest. He was also affectionate with my husband and he became more playful and cheerful each day. Outdoors he is a confident little guy and pretty good walking on a leash, as well. He has good social skills with people and dogs. He knows some commands and is a quick learner. He is attentive, listens, and wants to please most of the time. He really seemed to get along with everyone from everything that I saw. He was friendly to everyone who came over and seemed to get along with small and big dogs. He played very well with my son’s dog and they were together the entire time. My son’s dog was pretty annoying at times, trying to chase and hump Teddy and I don’t think I ever saw Teddy snap or growl (other than playfully). I thought he showed great restraint with the younger dog.

I think that Teddy will do well with an owner who is at least as smart as he. Also, he seems to like being brushed if one is gentle around the mouth. He didn’t even mind my handling his feet. He has a nice deep bark but doesn’t bark often. He really let me know when my husband came home the first night, running to the door with his deep bark as if to warn of an intruder. But he didn’t bark the next time. We were impressed that it took him only one trial to learn quite a few things. I think housetraining was going well, too. I got the feeling that he didn’t like to go down the stairs. Maybe it would be better for him if he had outdoor access without having to maneuver many stairs.
